The Link Between Flooding & Deforestation

Planetary deforestation is having huge impacts on communities worldwide.

In May 2018, the small town of Grand Forks was hit by a catastrophic flood. Was the flood caused by climate change and deforestation? The Grand Forks Flood Documentary is a multi-year film project that follows the stories of flood survivors, interviews foresters, loggers, and ecologists, and visits flood damaged homes and clear cut forests in southern British Columbia, Canada.

What role have humans played in our fragile ecosystems? When governments allow corporations to control the ecosystems, what are the impacts on humans?

While residents deal with the aftermath of sewage pumped into their neighborhood for 4 days, months after the flood people still have no place to live.

This episode also begins to tackle the question of the connection between flooding and deforestation.

Join us as we try to restore and protect the loveliness of the Boundary forests (and create jobs at the same time – we’re not forgetting about jobs).
