2026 New Forest Act Roadshow
Clear Explanations. Honest Conversations. Real Solutions.
Donate to Support the RoadshowTaking the New Forest Act to Communities Across BC

In May–June 2026, the Boundary Forest Watershed Stewardship Society will host the New Forest Act Roadshow – a series of presentations across British Columbia focused on public education, policy clarity, and plain-language explanations of BC forestry.
This is a speaking tour designed to give British Columbians the information they need to understand:
- why mills are closing
- why timber supply has collapsed
- how decades of overcutting and weak laws have damaged ecosystems and watersheds
- and what a clear, workable legislative solution looks like.
That solution is the New Forest Act – a policy framework developed over several years through research, public input, and lived experience in communities directly affected by forestry decisions.
What the Roadshow Is
An in-person educational event where:
- Jennifer Houghton presents BC’s forestry crisis in plain language
- Complex concepts like AAC, tenure structures, inventory, and mill economics are made accessible
- The New Forest Act legislative proposal is explained clearly and without jargon
- Audience members can ask questions and get direct, factual answers
- Communities can understand what real forestry reform would require
Each event is designed to bring clarity.

What the Roadshow Is Not
To avoid confusion, the Roadshow is not:
- a movement-building effort
- a protest tour
- a political campaign
- a recruitment exercise
The Roadshow will not be organizing rallies or protests. Its purpose is public education.
Communities may choose to take further actions afterward, but that is their decision. The Roadshow provides information and understanding – not instructions.
Who Is Presenting
Jennifer Houghton – Independent Forestry Analyst & Co-Author of the New Forest Act
Jennifer specializes in explaining BC forestry in clear, accessible language. Through her public presentations and our rapidly growing YouTube channel, she breaks down the numbers behind timber supply, mill closures, and regulatory structures in a way British Columbians can finally understand.
She has presented the New Forest Act to MLAs, community groups, and policy audiences across the province.
Jennifer Houghton is also available to speak at other events that are not specifically set up for the New Forest Act tour. Contact boundaryforest (at) gmail (dot) com to inquire.
Format of Each Event
Each Roadshow stop includes:
1. A 40–55 minute presentation
Topics include:
- Why BC’s forestry system is failing
- Timber supply collapse in plain language
- The role of tenure structures
- How the New Forest Act would fix the system
- What Nature-Directed Forestry actually means
- What a realistic transition looks like for communities
2. A moderated Q&A (20–30 minutes)
Audience members can ask direct questions and receive clear answers.
3. Optional local reflections
Hosts may invite a local speaker to give a short context statement.
How Communities Can Help
Here are 4 ways your organization, council, or community group can support the work:
✔1. Host a Presentation
Hosting a Roadshow presentation is the most direct way a community can support this work.
What it entails:
- You secure a simple venue (library room, community hall, council chamber, school space – anything with chairs and a screen).
- You promote the event within your local networks using materials we provide.
- You open the room, introduce Jennifer, and moderate the Q&A.
That’s all. You host the space – we bring the content.
A hosted presentation allows your community to hear clear, plain-language explanations of BC forestry, ask questions, and understand the New Forest Act directly from its creator.
✔ 2. Amplify the materials
Share videos, documents, and event info within your networks.
✔ 3. Connect us
Arrange introductions to groups who may want their own presentation.
✔ 4. Set up meetings
Help coordinate speaking opportunities with councils, chambers, or local officials.
This is all that is required. Hosting the Roadshow does not require forming committees or ongoing organizing structures. DOWNLOAD THE ROADSHOW HOST TOOLKIT
